Government has proposed to develop the ancient Jain monument, Jambu Dweepa Chakra area in Anantapur as tourism centre. It has been included in the newly sanctioned Anantapur Mega Tourism circuit with an estimated cost of Rs. 197.46 lakh.
Deputising for the Chief Minister, Labour Minister K. Atchan Naidu informed the Assembly on Monday that a proposal had been sent to the Union government and the work was expected to commence by March end. Government was giving top priority to tourism since it also generated jobs.
Along with Buddhist tourism and temple tourism it was also planned to take up beach and eco tourism in the state.
