The Parliamentary party meeting held on May 25 authorised Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to nominate the leader. The Union Minister was also informed that the party candidate who won from the Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency P.V. Mithun Reddy was appointed leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. Key role

Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy, who is very close to Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been playing a key role in highlighting various issues related to the YSRCP at the national level since he became the Rajya Sabha member in 2016.

Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy has introduced several Private Member Bills of significance in the Rajya Sabha in these two years.

He also took to the Centre the alleged biased behaviour of the Andhra Pradesh police after a knife attack on Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Visakhapatnam Airport. He made several representations to the Chief Election Commission (CEC) which led to the transfer of top IAS and IPS officers before the general elections.

A chartered accountant by profession, he is also accused in many cases that have been filed by the CBI against Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He was also arrested and jailed along with Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Mr. Midhun Reddy, who belongs to a political family, has been elected to the Lok Sabha second time and Mr. Bharath is a new face in politics.
