BJP to step up offensive against Jagan govt?

Bharatiya Janata Party, which has declared that there is no question of having any alliance with the YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh which it described as a rowdy party, has decided to step up its offensive in the coming days.

According to the party sources, BJP state unit is planning to conduct a series of public meetings in Andhra Pradesh in the next few weeks to galvanise the party cadres and launch an attack on the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

“There would be two public meetings in the immediate future – one at Tirupati and another at Rajamahendravaram, most probably in September. Both the meetings would be addressed by Union home minister and former BJP national president Amit Shah,” BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP C M Ramesh said.

He said the party had laid special focus on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states keeping an eye on the next elections.

“Last week, the party leaders from Andhra Pradesh had a meeting with BJP national president J P Nadda and discussed the alarming financial position in the state,” Ramesh said.

Ramesh alleged that the Jagan government, which initially announced implementation of total prohibition in the state, had increased the prices of liquor and pledged the revenues from excise with the banks to raise heavy loans.

“The government has not even submitted the report on state finances to the comptroller and auditor general (CAG),” he alleged.
