Two held for killing four of a family

Rajahmundry: The Rajahmundry urban district police arrested two people accused of killing four people by setting a house on fire on January 21 at Dulla village in East Godavari district. Speaking to the media, SP Shemushi Bajpai said that the two accused— Masada Srinu and Marlapudi Mohan of Muramanda village set the house on fire after locking the house from outside which led to the death of Kotni Satyavathi (50), Kotni Ramu (16), Ganta Durga Bhavani (30) and Ganta Vijaya Lakshmi (5).
According to the police, Satyavathi had promised her nephew Masada Srinu that she would give him her daughter’s hand in marriage and taken Rs 1 lakh in exchange. But she later decided to call off the marriage. Later that week, Srinu poured petrol on the people and set them ablaze. He then bolted the door from outside.
