Prati Roju Pandaage is the biggest blockbuster of my career: Maruthi

Director Maruthi’s latest family drama Prati Roju Pandaage, starring Sai Dharam Tej and Raashi Khanna in lead roles, has received an overwhelming stamp of approval from the audience. The film, which released last Friday, seems to be going great guns at the box office and its makers couldn’t be more pleased. “The response to the film has been incredible. Usually, the collections tend to slow down after the weekend but to see such a strong response even after a week is overwhelming,” says an elated Bunny Vas, the film’s producer. Prati Roju Pandaage tells the heart-warming tale of a dying grandfather (Sathyaraj) and the relationship he shares with his family. Maruthi says that this film is his most successful one yet. “Prati Roju… has become the highest grosser in Sai Dharam’s career. Ditto for me too. On Christmas day, we went to Rajahmundry and the reception I received from those who watched the film was overwhelming. I have never experienced anything like that before. Everyone was just so welcoming — they’re were whistling, hooting, calling out my name. So much love came my way. All this just proves how well they connected with the story,” he says. Agreeing, Bunny Vas adds that the film’s magic lies in its comedy and emotions. “Rao Ramesh garu’s chemistry with Tej clicked so well. We banked on Tej for the emotions and Rao Ramesh for the comedy and we’re glad it turned out so well. It was a calculated risk we took and I’m surprised by the box office figures. The vetakaram (sarcasm) in particular is what’s drawing in the crowd. The success of Prati Roju Pandaage is the perfect way to sign off what has been an exceptionally good year,” he says.
Produced by Bunny Vas under UV Creations and GA2 Pictures, and presented by Allu Aravind under Geetha Arts, Prati Roju Pandaage is running successfully in theatres.
