Rajahmundry: Kakinada-based Balaji Marines, tasked with retrieving the ill-fated boat from Godavari, tasted their first success on Thursday. They pulled out a piece of iron, believed to be a part of the railing of the boat.
Dharmadi Satyam’s team dropped the anchor into the river once again and managed to pull up a piece of metal. He said the discovery will help the team in detecting the actual location of the boat, estimated to be lying at a depth of nearly 200 feet and about 70 meters away from the river bank. Meanwhile, the ports department has been monitoring the rescue operation and a team of marine personnel is likely to join the rescue operation.
Speaking to TOI, ASP of Rampa Chodavaram, Vakul Jimdal, said the rescue team has pulled out a piece of iron, which looks like the railing of the boat. He, however, said that it will first have to be confirmed whether the piece of iron belongs to the tourist boat. tnn
