Clash of the titans! Vijay, Karthi box-office face-off on Diwali 2019

On Thursday, the makers of Thalapathy Vijay’s Bigil announced that the movie will release on October 25. Interesting thing being Karthi’s Kaithi is also slated to release on the same day as Vijay’s film. While the two projects have different subject matters at hand, the box office will be on fire.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of ‘Maanagaram’ fame, Kaithi has been cleared by the Censor Board with a U/A certificate. Karthi plays an escaped prisoner who is serving a life sentence in jail. With high-octane action episodes and chase sequences, the film promises to be an edge-of-the-seat entertainer set against a raw and rustic backdrop. The film also stars Narain, Dheena, George Mariyan, Vijay TV Dheena and others in crucial roles. Sam CS is scoring the music for the film, and Sathyan Sooryan is cranking the camera. Kaithi has been jointly bankrolled by SR Prakashbabu and SR Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures.

Directed by Atlee, Bigil has received U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the film’s run time is 2 hours and 53 min. Also starring Nayanthara, Vivek, Kathir, Jackie Shroff, Daniel Balaji, Bigil has been bankrolled by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh under the banner of AGS Entertainment. Vijay and Atlee had worked together in Theri in 2016 and Mersal in 2017, and with Bigil being their third film together, fans are expecting a hat trick from the duo.
