Kukatpally: As part of Swachh Survekshan programme, the officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Kukatpally zone is planning to plant creepers at edge of nalas. A senior official said, “To start with, 200 creepers were planted at IDL nala at Moosapet.”
More would be planted at Temple Bus Stop Road nala – 100 creepers plants, Prashanth Nagar nala – 60 creepers plants, Chitra road , Qutubullapur – 100 creepers plants, Shapur, near fabricated toilet – 100 creepers plants, Retreat Colony nala – 100 creepers plants, and Kanoji Guga nala – 100 creepers plants.
P Yadagiri, Deputy Director, Urban Biodiversity wing, Kukatpally, said the creepers would help cover the nala and also reduce the smell. After desilting the nalas it is covered with chain link mesh. We planted 200 creepers, flowers bloom throughout the year.”
The creepers were brought from Rajahmundry. The estimated budget for this project is around Rs 18 lakh and works would begin on the last week of May, added Yadagiri. Rs 4 lakh has been spent on the 200 meters nala beautification at Moosapet circle. Work started on May 5 and was completed on May 12.
