The Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners Association organised an agitation at Ichchapuram exhorting all truckers to participate in the strike.
The association representatives M. Janakiram Reddy and Gude Vasu, leading the agitation at the town bordering Odisha, said truckers had been the worst hit by the rocketing diesel prices.
Maintenance cost, payment of wages to drivers and competition among the truck owners had already led to problems in the sector, they said.
The association was participating in the strike as the government was delaying a speedy redress, they added
