₹34000 crore embezzled in excavation, alleges Jagan

The Telugu Desam government and party leaders embezzled ₹34,000 crore in the excavation work of various projects in its four-year rule, said YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday.

Addressing a public meeting in Nidadavolu in West Godavari district as part of the ‘Praja sankalpa yatra’, Mr. Jagan said the people of West Godavari had given full support to the TDP by electing all its 15 candidates but the latter had done nothing for them. In fact, the TDP MLAs were “looting” them. The excavated earth and the sand mined from stream and river bed were being being sold to farmers and construction purpose, he alleged. But bills were being raised for them, he said.

Listing the failures of the TDP government, Mr. Jagan said residents of villages near aquafarms faced water pollution, farmers were not getting remunerative prices, liquor was overflowing, petrol price sky-rocketing, the PDS in a shambles, farmers and DWCRA workers bogged down by loans and youth had no jobs. The credibility of the TDP had touched rock bottom.

Nod for yatra

Special Correspondent in Rajamahendravaram writes:

The police gave their nod for the Praja Sankalpa Yatra that was proposed to enter the district through the Rail-cum-Road Bridge on June 12, but not before obtaining a written undertaking from the organisers that there would not be any static crowd and no damage would be caused to the parapet wall of the structure, which was in a bad shape.

Urban SP B. Rajakumari said the South Zone DSP had served a notice on the organisers seeking details of the crowd that would be present to receive Mr. Jagan.

On Saturday, when former MLA R. Suryaprakasha Rao and others met the SP and sought her intervention, Ms. Rajakumari asked themto give the undertaking. They told the SP that over 75,000 people were expected to receive Mr. Jagan on that day. The party is planning to organise a public meeting on that day near the Kotipalli bus stand, which is on the other end of the bridge.
