Samantha: ‘Rangasthalam’ was an eye-opening experience for me

Ram Charan and Samantha starrer ‘Rangasthalam’, which released amid much fanfare on March 30 has opened to rave reviews and has stormed the box-office — both domestic and overseas. The film has collected over Rs 40 Cr gross at the worldwide box office on the opening day.
Even though the film is all about Chitti Babu’s (played by Ram Charan) revenge and liberation, Samantha as Ramalakshmi added depth to movie with her effortless acting. She washes buffaloes, ploughs field, cooks, cleans and does everything that a village belle is supposed to do.
Interestingly, Samantha hardly knew about village life prior to the film. Growing up in Chennai, she neither lived in a village nor been to one, she revealed. Sticking to Sukumar’s vision of Ramalakshmi and observing young women in the village and Rajahmundry, helped her get into the character of a village belle.
Calling Rangasthalam ‘an eye-opening experience’ she confessed that it made her respect villages and life there even more.
