‘State-run schools getting an infra boost’

Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday said that the government is spending Rs. 4,850 crore to develop infrastructure in 45,000 schools all over the State. He also announced that the government would take a final decision on conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), on Wednesday.

Addressing the media along with Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivasa Rao and Vice-Chancellor of Nannaya University M. Mutyala Naidu, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said they have taken a decision to merge all the educational institutions in Hithakarini Samajam founded by social reformist Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu with Nannaya University.

The meeting was convened after Rajamahendravaram MP M. Muralimohan wrote to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He said all the eight educational institutions would be merged after getting the necessary clearances from the government and the University Grants Commission.

Virtual classrooms

On infrastructure in schools, the Minister said 6,000 digital and virtual classrooms were started in all the 13 districts and each constituency got Rs. 30 crore for development of infrastructure in schools.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said after the government approved the private universities Bill in the Assembly, many institutions had started coming to the State. Of the seven national institutions, the Central government had started five and the State had given 5,214 acres land for these institutions.

He said the tribal university in Vizianagaram and Central University in Anantapur would come up soon.

Seventeen more institutions would come to the State in line with the vision of the CM to make A.P. a knowledge hub.

The Ministers also participated in a function at the Allu Ramalingaiah Government Homeo College in which a Buddha statue was inaugurated.

Local MLAs Akula Satyanarayana, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, MLCs Somu Veerraju, Adireddy Appa Rao, Mayor P. Rajani Sesha Sai, GUDA Chairman Ganni Krishna, and homeo college principal P. Suryabhagavan participated in the meeting .
