15 People From AP Tribal Village Died; Food Poisoning Suspected:- In the last two weeks, around fifteen people from a tribal village in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh have died.
The officials suspect the possible reason for the deaths could be food poisoning. From the same village, Chavaraee in Y Ramavaram mandal of East Godavari district, since last night, another 24 individuals have been admitted to hospitals in Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada as their condition worsened, when they complained of severe vomiting and diarrhoea.
A N Dinesh Kumar, the Integrated tribal development agency (ITDA) project officer said that after partaking a marriage feast at Maradumily village on May 29, several people from the village suffered suspected food poisoning. Many people fell ill a couple of days after the feast.
In the course of last two weeks, the village, located in a forested area, recorded 15 deaths and food poisoning was suspected to be one of the possible reasons, he said.
After the reports of deaths reached the headquarters, District collector Kartikeya Mishra, who rushed to the area said the family members of the deceased will be given a financial aid of Rs 2 lakh each. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa visited the area last night
Moreover, the AP CM Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu spoke to officials over phone and instructed them to take all necessary steps to provide relief, said the official sources. Also, the medical teams have been sent to the area, they added.
