Naidu compromising on A.P. interests: Brinda Karat

Prasad The Communist Party of India (M) politburo member Brinda Karat on Monday alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is aligning with the NDA Government by compromising on the interests of the State.

Addressing a media conference here, she sought to know why Mr. Naidu remained silent when the NDA Government had dealt a raw deal to Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget. In a bid to drive her point, she referred to a protest recently launched by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at Parliament House against the Centre’s curtailment of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) funds.

After all the BJP-led NDA Government found itself on the backfoot over its promise of according special category post bifurcation, financial assistance to bridge the resource gap and fund for building State capital after it came to power. Even as the State drew blank from the Union Budget, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu remained soft with the BJP, she criticized.
