CPI(M) politburo member Brinda Karat will attend a convention of Adivasis at Buttayagudem in West Godavari district on March 16, according to party district committee secretary B. Balaram. The convention will discuss issues such as land disputes involving Scheduled Tribes in Agency. “The funds allotted to the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) are getting diverted for want of supervision,” Mr. Balaram said.

He added that the convention would insist on merger of tribal habitations in T. Narsapur, Chintalapudi and Jangareddygudem mandals with the Agency area and extension of benefits to Adivasis living in the plains under the Scheduled Areas Act on par with those from Agency areas.
