71.47% polling for MLC elections in Rajahmundry division

Rajahmundry (AP): The Member of Legislative Council (teachers’ constituency) elections went off peacefully on Sunday in Rajahmundry division of East Godavari districts as well as West Godavari districts where 71.47 per cent voting was reported, official sources said. A total of 2,029 voters out of 2,839 voters, exercised their franchise. “Polling began on a dull note. Later it picked up and 18.70 per cent polling was reported in the first two hours between 8 am to 10 am, and it was went upto 71.47 per cent,” an official release said.

The Rajahmundry division consists of Alamuru, Gokavaram, Kadima, Korukonda, Rajahmundry Rural, Rajahumundry Urban, Rajanagaram and Seetanagaram.

Polling in 11 mandals in the agency areas of Ramapachodavaram went off peacefully and 73.84 per cent of polling was recorded in the area, Ramapachodavaram Revenue Divisional officer G V Satya Vani said.

“Ballot boxes have been sent to Kakinada Rangaraya Medical College strong room with security. Counting of votes will be held on March 25,” she said.
