Rajamahendravaram: Govt Arts College gets NAAC A+ status

Rajamahendravaram: The long-cherished desire of Government Arts College (Autonomous) came to reality as the 167-year-old college obtained NAAC A+ Grade status. The college is first one to get such status in the country.

Participating at a meeting held on the college premises in this regard on Friday, MP Margani Bharat Ram assured to convert the college into Arts University shortly.

He said initiatives were taken to get A+ grade status with the Union Ministry of Human Resources Department in this regard, which in turn directed NAAC officials to accord A+ grade status to the historical college.

He asked the college principal to provide quality education to students as its responsibility was increased after getting A+ grade status.

Under the A+ grade status, the college will get funds to the tune of Rs 55 crore.

Many stalwarts such as Dr Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan and Kandukuri Veeresalingam Panthulu worked in the college and many great personalities such as V K Krishna Menon, Adavi Bapi Raju, Justice Koka Subba Rao are the alumni of the college.

College principal Dr Rapaka David Kumar said the college was offering as many as 47 under graduate and 14 post graduate courses along with 21 value added certificates. Over 5,000 students were studying in the college, he told.
