Rajamahendravaram: The nine-day celestial Devi Navaratri Utsavams began in the historical city on Sunday. They will be continued up to October 9. Devi Chowk which was famous for conducting the nine-day fest for 87 years was illuminated.
The festival commenced with Kalasa Sthapana was performed at 9.30 AM on Sunday. Along with Devi Chowk, Devi idols were installed at Managalavarapeta, Innispeta, Alcot gardens, Jawaharlal Nehru road, VL Puram, Lalachervu, Korukonda road, Jampeta, Danavaipeta and many parts of the city.
During the nine days the organisers arranged many cultural and spiritual programmes in the city and many elites of the city participated in Kalasa Stapana programme.
