5 drug peddlers arrested; 375 kg cannabis seized

Piplani police have nabbed five accused and seized massive 375 kg of cannabis and two cars worth Rs 40 lakh on Tuesday, drug peddlers brought drugs from Malkangiri Rajahmundry Andra Pradesh.

Police said that acting on a tip-off regarding two vehicles carrying drugs was tracked and seized at Anand Nagar road Hathaikheda Dam and when the vehicles were checked drugs were found.

The accused were identified as Hameed Ali (50), Wahid Khan (40), Peer Khan (40), Sahid Khan alias Maulana (50) and Shafeeq Ali alias Shappu (26) of Dohara Sehore.

During the investigation police have seized one pick up van bearing registration number MP04GA5260, one car bearing registration number MP37C1647 and 6 metal drums. In the drums drugs were kept.

Police said that the drug peddlers provided Rs 2 lakh for drugs and were scheduled to pay Rs 2 lakh later. The drug peddlers used to sell drugs in Sehore and near areas which they used to bring from Andra Pradesh and other areas.

During the investigation police found that to deceive police accused have used oil drums which could easy escape at checking points and police checking from Andra Pradesh to their area Dohara. The details of the two vehicles used in the cars would be investigated.

After the initial investigation police have registered a case under sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act. All the accused are residents of Sehore and their involvement in the illegal drug trafficking would be investigated in the further investigation.
