Two flights diverted to city due to heavyrain in Mumbai

Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall in Mumbai led to disruptions in air traffic to and from the city’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Friday evening. Two aircraft — a Vistara flight, UK 854, from Bengaluru to Mumbai and a Cathay Pacific flight, CX 301, from Hong Kong to Mumbai, were diverted to RGIA. Many other flights were delayed by over 40 minutes to two hours.
Besides Mumbai, air traffic in other cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Rajahmundry, Goa among others was also affected.
Inconvenienced by the delays, many passengers took to social media to air their grievances. @VijenderGoud tweeted: “@AirAsiaIndian, this is most disappointing evening flight delayed from Mumbai to Hyderabad…it was supposed to departure at 18:30 pm but now it’s 20:17 pm no response from management for delay…hence passengers are waiting for the flight, please arrange the flight asap to reach Hyd (sic)”
On their part, airline operators sent messages to flyers informing them about the crisis. “Due to #MumbaiRains, passengers may experience delays today. We’re doing everything we can to minimise disruptions and keep you informed. As always, we suggest you check your flight status before leaving for the airport & keep extra travel time in hand,” IndiGo airline posted on its official Twitter handle.
