Maharshi: Dil Raju clarifies on hike in ticket prices

‘Dil’ Raju who is one of the producers of ‘Maharshi’ called on the media and clarified about the hike in ticket prices in Telangana. Speaking he said, “Generally for any big film, ticket prices go up so as the producers to recover the investment in the first four days. These days 100 and 50 days films are nowhere, so the producers are relying on the first weekend collections.”

Saying that it’s a miscommunication, ‘Dil’ Raju said the Telangana government did not issue any G.O. on ticket prices but only on extra show. “In Andhra Pradesh, there is a provision for increasing the ticket prices for a big hero film and it is completely the decision of respective theatre management. The entire theatre owners did not go as a group, individuals have knocked the High Court door’s and they got approval from the court. So the ticket prices went up from Rs 80 to Rs 100 for single screens and Rs 150 to Rs 200 in multiplexes in Telangana and Hyderabad,” said ‘Dil’ Raju. In Vijayawada, Rajahmundry and other cities of Andhra Pradesh, the starting range of ticket is Rs 200.

When asked is budget behind the reason of all, ‘Dil’ Raju replied that the media is reporting a lot of stories on it but he knows the facts about the budget. “We worked on the film for 18 months, so there will be many factors. I know how much money went into the making,” added ‘Dil’ Raju but diplomatically did not reveal the actual numbers of the budget. He also did not comment on the IT raids held at his residence and office.

‘Maharshi’ is releasing in over 2000 screens worldwide and ‘Dil’ Raju said it’s a non-Baahubali record.
