Visakhapatnam: Janipalli Srinivasa Rao alias Srinivas, the man accused of stabbing YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, would move a new bail plea on Wednesday.
He has remained behind the bars since his arrest on October 26, 2018. At present, Srinivas (29) is lodged in the Rajahmundry Central jail.
Local courts in Visakhapatnam dismissed Srinivas’s bail plea on four occasions. The NIA special court in Vijayawada also rejected the bail plea and sent him in remand till April 24.
Jaganmohan was attacked at the VVIP lounge of Visakhapatnam airport on October 25, 2018. National Investigation Agency (NIA) had filed the charge sheet in the case in January 2019. “A few days ago, I met my brother (Srinivas) in the prison. He is unwell and is seeking bail,” said Srinivas’s elder brother J Subba Raju.
He said: “My brother is undergoing treatment at Government Hospital (Area Hospital) in Rajahmundry.”
“My brother attacked Jagan to gain popularity (not to eliminate Jagan) but he was not aware of the consequences,” Subba Raju said.
