Cash worth Rs 2 crore seized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a sensational catch just days before the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Cyberabad police have apprehended two persons claiming to be employees of Jayabheri Properties linked to TDP MP M Murali Mohan near Hi-Tec City railway station and seized Rs 2 core cash from their possession.
According to police, the two men confessed that they were taking the cash to Rajahmundry to hand it over to the TDP Rajahmundry Lok Sabha candidate, but when TOI contacted the MP, he said he has got nothing to do with the money.
Roopa Rammohan Maganti, daughter-in-law of Murali Mohan, is in the fray as TDP nominee for the Rajahmundry Lok Sabha constituency, which goes to the polls on April 11.
The Special Operations Team (SOT) sleuths of Cyberabad commissionerate apprehended N Srihari, 44, and A Pandari, 39, claiming to be workers of Jayabheri Properties, a company owned by TDP MP M Murali Mohan and his family, near Hi-Tec City railway station on Wednesday night.
“We seized Rs 2 crore cash in possession of Srihari and Pandari. They confessed that Jayabheri company’s office in-charge in Gachibowli, Jagan Mohan, has given the money to them with an instruction to hand it over to the TDP contesting candidate from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha constituency,” ACP, Madhapur, N Shyam Prasad Rao told TOI.
The duo was supposed to board an MMTS train to Secunderabad and catch another train to Rajahmundry. When contacted, Murali Mohan said he has nothing to do with the cash. “I am busy campaigning. I do not know about any cash seizure by police and I have got nothing do with it,” Murali Mohan said.
Madhapur police have registered a case under Section 171-B of the IPC.
