Krishna district tops in Intermediate exams

Krishna district with the pass percentage of 84 stood first in the State in the Intermediate second year examinations, the results of which were released here on Thursday by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. While Nellore stood second with the pass percentage of 77, Guntur district followed it with 76. A total number of 4,84,889 candidates appeared for the examination. Of them, 4,41,359 were regular and the remaining were private candidates. The pass percentage of 73.33, however, was less when compared to last year (77%).

Girls outnumbered boys in the examination. While the pass percentage of girls was 77, it was 70 in case of boys. Krishna district girls topped with the pass percentage of 85, while the girls of Kadapa district stood last with the pass percentage of 67.

The districts which got low pass percentage were Kadapa (59) followed by Srikakulam (65) and Anantapur (68). Viziangaram district achieved the highest pass percentage among the government junior colleges with 80 followed by Nellore and Srikakulam with 70% and Chittoor with 65 pass percentage. The government junior colleges which failed to perform well were Visakhapatnam (43%), Anantapur and Kadapa (53%) and Guntur (56%). The Minister said that the last date for payment of fee for the supplementary examination was April 21.

The examination would be conducted in the State from May 14.
