Hyderabad: Six people were arrested by the police on Tuesday for blackmailing a minor girl and extorting Rs 11.5 lakh from her.
Getting into details, the girl befriended two of the arrested Hemant and B Sai, private employees staying in a men’s hostel at SR Nagar on social networking site Facebook a year ago.
A total of Rs 11.5 lakh was extorted from the girl by the two citing their personal issues, said Balanagar DCP PV Padmaja adding that she gave Rs 8 lakh for Hemant and the remaining to Sai.
Later the duo along with four others demanded Rs 40 lakh from her parents by threatening to share their daughter’s morphed pictures on Facebook. The parents then approached cybercrime police who caught the accused and recovered the extorted money.
The arrested are the natives of Rajahmundry of East Godavari district.
