APTDC signs pact with Watersports India

VIJAYAWADA : The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has signed a PPP agreement with Watersports Simple India Private Limited, authorising the latter to operate its boats in coastal AP. 

APTDC Chairman V Jayaram Reddy and Managing Director M Girija Shankar exchanged the agreement copies with Watersports India Executive Director Tarun Kakani.

Girija Shankar said: “The initiative has a potential to attract tourists to tourist locations in AP. The move will surely enthuse the youth.”

Kakani said: “Watersports India promoted by US investor Paparao Gummadapu, is already operating boats in Machilipatnam and Rajahmundry. With the signing of the agreement, we can now operate our boats and conduct adventure sports at Bhavani Island, Punnami Ghat and Krishnaveni Motel at Seethanagaram.

The company has imported boats from Florida, which include luxury pontoons, livingstone cruise boats, porta boats and hobie kayaks. Inflatable speed boats are also among the fleet, which can be used for rescue operations in emergencies. The safety standards of the boats are world class, he claimed.

Director of Tourism Himanshu Shukla and Watersports GM Ramakrishna said the operation of boats and promotion of adventure sports in major tourist locations in the State will help generate employment for the local youth.
