SCR looks to save water, electricity

Hyderabad: In order to reduce the use of water and electricity, the South Central Railway (SCR) has set up a modern Automatic Coach Washing Plant (ACWP) at Kacheguda and Kakinada railway stations with plans to replicate the facility at other locations.

The facility which is now functional at Kacheguda and Kakinada railway stations over SCR, will soon be extended to cover Secunderabad and Hyderabad Railway Stations, Moula Ali Car Shed and Rajahmundry Car Shed.
With around 260 coaches getting washed at the Coaching Depot, Kacheguda & Kakinada stations each day, the fresh water saved aggregates toa sizeable 22,750 litres per day. tnn
