VIJAYAWADA: There is no election in three municipal corporations and 30 municipalities in AP due to court cases and merger of villages with the adjoining municipalities. The three corporations are Srikakulam, Rajahmundry and Nellore.
Officials said that in a majority of the municipalities, objections were registered over the merger of the adjacent villages into municipalities. Petitions were filed in courts, which is the main cause for the cancellation of the elections.
The elections were cancelled in 30 municipalities and Nagar Panchayats due to court cases, ward division disputes and survey of SC, ST and BC voters. There is no election in Tadepalli municipality in Amaravati region where chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy lived, due to court cases against merger of villages.
There is no election in Mangalagiri, Bapatla, Ponnur, Narasaraopet, Jaggaiahpet, Gudivada, Amudalavalasa, Rajam, Tadepalligudem, Tanuku, Pallkollu, Bhimavaram, Akividu, Chintalapudi, Ibrahimpatnam, Tadigadapa, Kandukur, Podili, Darsi, Gudur, Kavali, Buchireddypalem, Alluru, Srikalahasti, Kuppam, Rajampet, Kamalapuram, Pamidi and Penukonda.
