Vundavalli Back To His Anti-Jagan Rant

Vundavalli Back To His Anti-Jagan Rant

Former Congress MP from Rajahmundry Vundavalli Arun Kumar has been claiming that he has not been associated with any political party, but whenever there is an opportunity, he tries to spit venom on YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

On Thursday, Vundavalli fumed at Jagan for keeping silent on the latest decision of the Central government to restrict the cost of Polavaram major irrigation project on Godavari river at Rs 20,398 crore, instead of the proposed cost of Rs 55,587 crore and the revised project cost of around Rs 47,700 crore.

Instead of questioning the Centre for taking an arbitrary decision on Polavaram project cost and going back on the revised cost, Vundavalli tried to make a political attack on Jagan.

He even sought to give a clean chit to TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, stating that the latter had strongly protested against the Centre when former finance minister late Arun Jaitely declared that the centre would bear the project cost only at 2013-14 estimates.

“There is a petition filed by former MP K V P Ramachandra Rao pending in Supreme Court. Why hasn’t Jagan filed a counter in the Supreme Court when the Centre backtracked on the project cost? Why is he silent? Jagan doesn’t have to hold Modi by his collar. It is enough if he files a case in Supreme Court stating that the centre was violating the AP Reorganisation Act,” Vundavalli said.

The former MP went on to allege that Jagan was not raising the issue of Polavaram project cost with Prime Minister Narendra Modi only because of the CBI cases pending against him.

“How can you compromise the state interests to get out of the cases against you?” he asked.

Vundavalli said the people had voted for Jagan thinking that he would act boldly. But now, they are of the view that the YSRC chief was scared of questioning Modi only because of the cases against him.

“It is not so easy to throw Jagan behind the bars. There will be turmoil in the state. Even if the cases are proved, Jagan can not get the punishment immediately. Even if he goes to jail, only his person will become the chief minister. But the people will not tolerate if Jagan remains silent on the state’s interests,” the ex-MP said.
