Accident captured on CCTV
Chennai: Two young women died in a road accident here this morning.
According to the police, Nagalakshmi (21) and Bhavani (20) were riding on a two-wheeler with their friend Shiva (20) on Anna Salai at Nandanam. The trio was from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, and were employed in a private firm at Egmore.
Shiva used to pick up the duo from their hostel in Velacheri and head to work in Egmore daily. This morning, while they were near YMCA Ground, an MTC bus (route No. 51), plying from Tambaram to Broadway, rammed the bike. The women were thrown to the ground, and the bus ran over them. While Shiva escaped with injuries, the women died on the spot.
Their bodies were sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. Bus driver Gunashekaran was taken in for inquiry. Guindy Traffic Investigation police have registered a case.
