New fast patrol vessel in Coast Guard fleet

The Indian Coast Guard Friday inducted a fast patrol vessel (FPV) CG Priyadarsini into its fleet. Coast Guard eastern seaboard commander additional director-general K R Nautiyal commissioned the vessel at its jetty in Kakinada.

Designed and built indigenously by GRSE Shipyard, Kolkata, Priyadarsini is equipped with high-technology surveillance gadgets. Speaking on the occasion, Nautiyal said the vessel could be used for anti-smuggling, surveillance, search and rescue operations, and fisheries protection.

It could also be used to carry out coordinated operations with other sea-air units. CG Priyadarsini is the 114th vessel of the Indian Coast Guard. Coast Guard inspector-general Paramesh Sivamani, East Godavari district Collector Kartikeya Misra, chairman and managing director of GRSE Shipping D K Saxena and other officials were present on the occasion.
