Budget carrier SpiceJet on Monday announced the launch of 14 more domestic flights, including services on four new routes – Pune-Patna, Chennai-Rajahmundry, Hyderabad-Calicut and Bengaluru-Tuticorin.

The new direct flights and additional frequencies will come into effect from July 1, the airline said in a statement.

“Effective July 1, the airline is all set to introduce new direct flights on Pune-Patna, Chennai-Rajahmundry, Hyderabad-Calicut and Bengaluru-Tuticorin sectors.

“Additionally, SpiceJet will also enhance its operations on Delhi-Patna (second frequency), Bengaluru-Rajahmundry (second frequency) and Mumbai-Bengaluru (fifth frequency) sectors with non-stop additional frequencies,” the airline said the a statement.

The airline has been pitching for more flights to non-metros and smaller cities from major airports in the country.

With the new flights, passengers from the relatively small towns such as Rajahmundry, Tuticorin and Calicut will find it easier to travel to a host of other cities both on SpiceJet’s domestic as well as international network via multiple onward connections from key metros like Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad, the airline statement said.

The airline will deploy a mix of its fleet of Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q-400 aircraft on the routes.
