By Express News Service

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM : The government has decided to set free 18 prisoners from Rajamahendravaram Central Jail on basis of good conduct. As per an earlier government order in January, the jail authorities had made a 58 male and eight female prisoners with good conduct and sent it to the government for further scrutiny.

The move was delayed due to administrative reasons. However, only 18 male prisoners made it to  the list as per the recent GO. Deputy jail superintendent Raghu said 15 of the total prisoners had served seven years in prison, while the rest did 14 years.

He added the order was published in the government’s website and the prison administration had not yet received a physical copy. As no female prisoner made it to the list, superintendent of women prison cell Sarada expressed her displeasure. Families of the convicts to be set free would soon be intimated about the same, it is learnt.
