Sarpavaram police have arrested Prof K Babulu for his alleged involvement in subjecting the JNTUK girl students to sexual harassment basing on the evidence given by as many as 21 girl students.
Prof Babulu, who went underground for the past few days has been traced at Lalacheruvu postal quarters on the Rajahmundry city outskirts on Wednesday night and produced before the Special Mobile Magistrate court here on Thursday which remanded him to 14 days judicial custody.
Announcing the arrest at a press conference held at Sarpavaram police station, Sub-Divisional police OfficerRavi Varma said that the police had registered an FIR against the professor following a complaint lodged by the JNTUK Registrar and recorded the evidence of the aggrieved girl students. He said the case would be chargesheeted soon.
