India’s leading airline IndiGo is introducing three daily direct flights from Vijayawada to Hyderabad and one daily direct flight each to Bengaluru and Chennai respectively on March 2 as part of its expansion in the fast-expanding South Indian market.
Announcing this in a press conference here on Wednesday, IndiGo Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Sanjay Kumar said Vijayawada was the 50th destination of the low-cost carrier and that the city would be connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Dubai, Singapore, Sharjah among other cities via Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Mr. Kumar said the launch of Vijayawada operations come just after the carrier’s first ATR flight on Hyderabad–Mangalore sector and the connectivity that was already established with Rajahmundry and Tirupati in early January. IndiGo Airlines Director (corporate communications) Ajay Sahai Jasra also spoke.
