Prof. Kanchan Kohli, Prof. Padma Devrajan and Abbott Healthcare were the winners of the IPA ACG – SciTech Innovation Awards which were distributed at the sidelines of the 69th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress hosted by the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI) in Chandigarh last month.
 
While Prof. Kanchan Kohli received the Best Innovative Development of Solid Dosage Form Award 2017, Prof. Padma Devrajan bagged the special recognition award in Innovative Development of Solid Dosage Form 2017. Abbott Healthcare team won the Best Innovative Packaging of Pharmaceutical Formulation Award 2017.
 
IPA ACG – SciTech Innovation Awards were presented by Ajit Kanetkar and Pavan Kumar of Associated Capsules Group to Prof. Kanchan Kohli, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi for her work on SNEC 30:US patented SNEDDS formulation for curcumin. The award comprised of a memento and a cash reward of Rs. 100,000.
 
The special recognition award in Innovative Development of Solid Dosage Form was given to Prof. Padma Devrajan, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai for her work on Solid Dispersion cum film technology for bio enhanced drug delivery. This award comprised of a memento and a cash reward of Rs. 50,000.
 
The Best Innovative Packaging of Pharmaceutical Formulation Award was presented to Abbott Healthcare (P) Ltd. for their work on LiDoCon – Metered Dosing Technology for Liquid Pharmaceuticals. The award comprises of a memento and a cash reward of Rs. 100,000.
 
The prizes were distributed during the Indian Pharmaceutical Association prestigious Awards Function & Fellows’ Dinner was organized at Hotel the Lalit, Rajiv Gandhi IT Park, Chandigarh last month. The event was attended by industry leaders, regulators, educators and healthcare professionals.
 
Dr. Rao Vadlamudi, president, Indian Pharmaceutical Association along with the past presidents: Prof. C. K. Kokate, Subodh Priolkar, Prof. B. Suresh, Dr. C. Gopalakrishna Murthy and Dr. J. A. S. Giri were present for the occasion.
 
Dr. Vadlamudi felicitated Dr. R.N. Gupta, who was the recipient of the eminent pharmacist award and Dr. B. Suresh, recipient of the Prof. M.L. Khorana Memorial Lecture Award of Indian Pharmaceutical Association. Dr. Suresh was also feted for receiving the Commonwealth Pharmacists association fellowship in 2017.
 
Prof. M.L. Khorana IJPS Best Research Paper winners were F. Hassanzadeh, K. Javidnia, K. Krishnamoorthy, M. Acharya, S.Roy, J. Liu and K. Muthusamy who received a memento, certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
 
M. Karthikeyan received the Prof. M.L. Khorana IJPS Best Research Paper Award 2016. The IPA Bengal & Maharashtra state branches received the outstanding state branch awards and the outstanding local branch awards were bagged by the Peenya, Rajahmundry and Enikepadu Local Branches for 2017, respectively.
 
The much-coveted IPA Fellowships were conferred on S.V. Veerramani, Atul Nasa and Dr. S. Vidyadhara for 2017. Prof. C.K. Kokate received the IPA – Ramanbhai Patel Foundation Life Time Achievement Award 2017.
