Plan to construct 19 lakh houses in next two years: Dy CM

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Home Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said that the government had planned for a massive housing programme of constructing as many as 19 lakh houses in the state during next couple of years.

Launching the fifth round of Janmabhoomi programme at Divili village in Peddapuram mandal 40 kms from here on Tuesday, he said, all the houseless poor would be covered under the programme, as promised by the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu during last elections .

Stating that several irrigation projects were also coming up in the state, he said the Purushothapatnam lift irrigation scheme was taken up at a cost of Rs 1,650 Crores and it is poised for completion on time.

Under the new scheme initiated by the state government, he said, SCs and BCs would be sanctioned Rs 35,000 towards marriage gift with effective from March. Mr Chinarajappa further claimed that most of the pubic grievances were resolved through the four rounds of Janmabhoomi programme as a result the number of grievances from the public being received was very less during the present fifth round of Janmabhoomi. Referring to the law and order situation in the state, he said by and large state was peaceful due to the special measures initiated by the government.

“In urban areas CC cameras were being installed to ensure prevention of the crime and effective surveillance. The prime accused in the sensational murder case in Rajahmundry city was nabbed successfully within twenty four hours taking advantage of information technology” he added.

The Deputy Chief Minister has participated in Janmabhoomi- Maa Vooru programme at Tirupati village and inaugurated CC road and drains constructed at a cost of Rs 52 lakhs.UNI VV AKC2122
