Rajahmundry: Civic authorities slapped a fine totalling Rs 8,100 on traders for littering public roads and using banned plastic bags and covers in the city on Wednesday.The municipal corporation authorities have set up a special team in health wing to carry out surprise inspections on commercial establishments to find out if traders were littering public roads and using banned plastic covers.
Accordingly, a team of three officials inspected the main roads and found that traders were flouting norms. The team imposed fine on erring traders and issued receipts to them. It will be remitted to the treasury of the civic body. The civic authorities appealed to the traders not to dump garbage on public roads and use banned plastic covers and bags.
