HC confirms life for Rajahmundry stalker

HYDERABAD: Exposing threadbare the lies of a convicted stalker who stabbed a girl and killed her parents when they attempted to save her, the Hyderabad High Court on Friday confirmed the life imprisonment awarded by a trial court in Rajahmundry to Matta Rajesh, a pervert youth who destroyed a whole family in the name of love.
Rajesh, 23, who worked as a mechanic and sales boy, used to harass college student Anusha, 20, and pester her to marry him. He was also threatening her to make her photos public. On September 17, 2009, he entered her house discreetly and when Anusha rejected him, slit her throat with a knife. When her parents rushed to her rescue, he stabbed both of them to death. Local people caught hold of the criminal when he was trying to flee and thrashed him before handing him over to the police. The trial court in Rajamundry convicted him for the double murder and criminal trespass and awarded life sentence to him on January 31, 2011. The convict preferred an appeal to going to jail.
The bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice T Amarnath Goud, which heard the appeal, brushed aside all the defence arguments forwarded by Rajesh. Taking advantage of the fact that Anusha was battling for life and unable to give any statement and her parents died on the spot, Rajesh tried to portray himself as a victim.
As confusion prevailed initially, police too could not move decisively, the bench said while refusing to give any benefit of doubt to Rajesh.
