Advocates of East Godavari staged a dharna in front of district Collector’s office here on Wednesday to press for their long-pending demands. They took out rally from Kakinada Bar Association and later met District Collector Kartikeya Mishra and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister. Rajamahendravaram Bar Association president and AP Bar Council member Muppalla Subbarao said that the State government was neglecting their long- pending demands after bifurcation of the State and demanded that the State government implement its election promise to advocates. He reminded that government has promised to apply group insurance scheme, stipend to junior advocates, increase death benefits, health cards on the lines of journalists and house sites to practising advocates. Hundreds of advocates from district attended the programme. Kakinada, Amalapuram Bar Association presidents Batchu Rajesh and Mattapalli Muralikrishna also participated.
