IndiGo To Operate Flights From Tirupati, Rajahmundry; Fares Start From

IndiGo has forayed into regional markets with a new fleet of ATR aircraft, the company said. ATR is an aircraft manufacturer, which is primarily into building regional aircraft. Announcing addition of ATR aircraft to its fleet, IndiGo said that it will operate 24 non-stop daily flights. The airline said it will begin ATR operations with flights between cities on its existing network of Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mangalore, Madurai and Nagpur and two new Tier-II cities of Tirupati and Rajahmundry. While the introductory fares start from Rs 999 on the new flights, the first ATR flight will commence from Hyderabad on December 21, 2017, IndiGo said in a press release. “With the introduction of these flights, IndiGo has taken another step towards providing on-time and hassle-free travel experience to the passengers of Tier-II & Tier-III cities as well,” said IndiGo, India’s largest airline with a market share of 38 per cent as of August 2017. IndiGo said it will deploy its ATR fleet of ATR 72-600 aircraft in a phased manner.

2. IndiGo will operate 24 non-stop daily flights using the new fleet of aircraft.

3. IndiGo is also introducing new ATR flights on its existing network which includes Chennai-Mangalore-Chennai, Hyderabad-Mangalore-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Nagpur-Hyderabad.

4. These new routes will further consolidate IndiGo’s position as the fastest growing airline in India, the carrier said.

5. On the opening of the sale of tickets for the first ATR flights by IndiGo’s, Aditya Ghosh, president and whole-time director of the company, said, “It is indeed a proud moment for all of us who have been working relentlessly to bring our dream of regional flying to reality…These flights will open up a whole new market, improving the choices of air travel to millions of our fellow citizens.”

6. IndiGo’s introductory fare of Rs 999 was available on flights from Rajahmundry to Hyderabad starting January 16, 2018, according to its website.

7. According to IndiGo’s website – goindigo.in, flights between Chennai and Mangalore, among others, were being offered at Rs 1,499.

8. Some other flights available for bookings at Rs 1,499 included those between Rajahmundry and Chennai, and on the Bengaluru-Tirupati route, according to the IndiGo portal.

9. Flights between Hyderabad and Nagpur, and on the Bengaluru-Rajahmundry route, were available for booking at Rs 1,999, according to the IndiGo website.

10. “All-inclusive lowest one-way fares available for limited seats. Fares and schedules are subject to change without prior notice. Schedules are subject to regulatory approvals,” IndiGo added.
