‘Awareness on GST essential for traders’

It is essential for business community to develop awareness on centralised tax system GST, said tax consultant V. Venkata Narayana alias Rahul.

Addressing members of the Rajamahendravaram Chamber of Commerce here on Thursday, he said that there were some myths and apprehensions among traders on the GST which they could clarify with their auditors or by logging on to the Union government’s websites and reading some articles published in different magazines. The Income Tax and Commercial Tax department officials would also help them in this regard, Mr. Rahul said.

Chamber of Commerce State committee member Nandepu Srinivas said that they were arranging such type of programmes in all big towns and cities to spread awareness on GST.

Kalepu Ramachandra Rao, president of Chamber of Commerce Burlagadda Venkata Subbaryudu, State Federation of Chambers of Commerce convener Ashok Jain, vice-president Dondapati Satyam, secretary K. Balasubrahmanyam and others were present.
