High court notice to Andhra Pradesh on Tirupati bogus votes

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday issued notices to Andhra Pradesh state election commission, the state’s municipal administration wing and the district collector of Chittoor asking them to explain their stand on a petition that charged them with remaining silent on huge irregularities in the preparation of voter rolls in Tirupati municipal corporation.

The bench of Justice V Ramasubramanian and Justice J Uma Devi was hearing a public interest petition filed by P Dwarakanath Reddy , who alleged that huge number of bogus votes were enrolled and the authorities published the latest voters list without verifying them. His counsel sought the intervention of the court and urged it to restrain the authorities from issuing a poll notification for the civic body elections.
