Forget railway zone, no proposal even for Rajdhani Express from Andhra Pradesh

Even as the people are expecting a new railway zone to be formed for AP and political parties are milking the issue for their benefit, a Rajdhani Express to connect the new capital of Amaravati or Vijayawada via Vizag with New Delhi is yet to be considered.

The issue was raised by TDP Rajahmundry MP M Murali Mohan in the LoK Sabha on Wednesday. He enquired if the central government was contemplating introducing a Rajdhani Express from Amaravati-Vijayawada to New Delhi via Visakhapatnam, Nagpur and Raipur. To this, Union minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha said at present, there was no such proposal due to ‘operational and resources constraints’.

In his statement, Sinha said, “Rajdhani Express class of trains are long distance fast moving prestigious trains, primarily meant for connecting the national capital and state capitals running on very tight timings with limited halts enroute.”
