Special rituals mark Subrahmanya Sashti

Hundreds of devotees thronged Subrahmanyeswara Swamy temples in East Godavari district on Thursday on the occasion of Subramanyeswara Swamy Sashti. Subrahmanyeswara Swamy temple, located in the temple complex of Golingeswara Swami at Bikkavolu, was packed with devotees from the early hours of Thursday. ‘Abhishekams’ with milk started around 3.30 a.m. and continued till 4.00 p.m. Special pujas for Valli and Devasena were also performed on the occasion.

Rajahmundry Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai attended a special pooja in the early hours at the Sri Valli Subrahmanya Swami temple on Korukonda Road. Kalyanam was performed on Thursday night on the temple premises. Uma Markandeya Swami Temple, on the banks of the Godavari, and Uma-Ramalingeswara Swami temple at Jampeta were crowded with devotees from the early hours to till midnight.
In Rajahmundry, Sringeri Sarada Peetham chief priest Tatacharyulu, Vedic pandits Prasad Sarma and Mahesh Sarma conducted ‘abhishekams’ to Subrahmanya, Nagendra and Dattatreya Swami.
