VMDA Drama Fest from April 9 to 12

VISAKHAPATNAM:  Continuing its efforts to keep alive the legacy of traditional Telugu theatre, Visakha Music and Dance Academy (VMDA) will organise the 10th Regional Drama Festival-cum- Competition, from April 9 to 12, in memory of renowned artiste AS Raja, at Kalabharathi Auditorium. The drama fest will be inaugurated by CSN Raju, chairman of VMDA, along with chief guest MT Krishna Babu, chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust. The programme will start at 6.45 pm and two plays “Meghavaranam” and “Mayapora” will be staged.

Former minister Dadi Veerabhadra Rao will attend the drama fest as the chief guest on the second day, when the plays “Ammapaala Ruchulu” and “Maro Devalayam” will be staged. On April 11, “Sykatha Silpam” and “Prerna” will be performed and  Velagapudi Ramakrishnababu, MLA of Visakhapatnam East constituency, will be the chief guest. On the concluding day plays “Nirnayam” and “Rendu Nissabdhaala Madhya” will be staged followed by the presentation ceremony, where the VMDA chairman and chief guest Mavuri Venkataramana, chairman of MVR Mall, will give away the prizes along with Dr Mangalavuri, the trustee of AS Raja Foundation.

People other than the invitees and members of VMDA can get entry tickets by paying a nominal fee of Rs 60 for four days or Rs 20 for a single day.
