New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday appealed to the Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to review his government’s decision to impose tax on transport vehicles entering Hyderabad from Andhra Pradesh. He said, “The neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are not imposing tax on vehicles from either AP or Telangana State. We are speaking the same language…We should live and grow together. I am appealing to KCR to review the decision.”
The Telangana State government had decided that all motor vehicles entering Telangana from AP. During his second and final day in the national capital, Jagan along with his party MPs met the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and reiterated the demand that special category status be given to Andhra Pradesh, provide incentives and tax exemptions for industries and financial package for the backward districts in northern coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
He said the YSRCP delegation had brought to the notice of the Union Minister about the pending projects and highlighted the need to grant funds for the capital and give special category status. In the meeting, he also apprised the Union Finance Minister of the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project and its pitfalls from his party’s perspective. After his meeting with the Union Minister, he said he was hopeful that something good would come out of the meeting in the coming days.
