The Rajahmundry Urban Police on Thursday seized silver glasses meant for distribution to voters of the twin Godavari district teachers’ constituency in MLC election which will be held on March 22.According to One Town police station house officer, two assistant professors of GIET Engineering College, run by one of the candidates contesting with the support of TDP in this election, were arrested by police, and 26 silver glasses were seized from them.The SHO said that on a tip-off, the police party went to an apartment in Danavai Peta in the city where two assistant professors, Paddula Manikanta and Jani Manikanta, were allegedly distributing silver glasses to voters. They were immediately arrested. Police have registered a case under Section 171-E of the IPC (punishment for bribery).
