Police book case against racketeer Avinash

Kakinada: East Godavari superintendent of Police M Ravi Prakash said on Tuesday a case was booked suo motu against P Avinash for allegedly cheating many persons by promising jobs. He also said Deputy Superintendent of Police Venkateswara Rao was appointed to probe the case.   

The police took action on Monday following public uproar that Avinash had impersonated a human rights activist and lured the unemployed by promising jobs. He was accused of collecting huge amounts and harassing those who dared to complain against him.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa termed it as unfortunate that his name was dragged into the alleged racket organised by Avinash. He claimed that he had directed the police to make a comprehensive inquiry into the episode.
