Guntur: Former President A P J Abdul Kalam on Sunday exhorted the doctors to render humanitarian service to each and everyone cutting across caste and religion. A great hospital was one which would greet patients with a smile, he said. Speaking at a function, organised on the occasion of inauguration of Ramesh Superspecialities hospital here, Dr Kalam stressed the need to ensure that hospitals were kept free from bio-contamination.

The former president revealed that he was asked by a young medical girl student as he entered the hospital what his message was to her, and he replied that “she needs to develop a kind heart towards the patients. You already have a heart, but what you need to have to succeed as a doctor is a kind heart.” He maintained that a hospital’s success lays in quality treatment and medical excellence.
